Corona is not that far from Orange County. In fact, if you take the 241 toll road, you can get from Corona to Irvine in about 25-30 mins. If you live in North OC than you can just take the fast track to the 55 freeway and be in Anaheim in about the same time.
The advantage of living in Corona is getting more house for your money. The disadvantage is the commute if you work in Orange County. If your thinking about Corona, you can try the Green River exit off the 91 fwy and turn right. There are many nice communities in this area and its still close to the fwy for commuting. Prices are a little bit higher because again, its closer to Orange County.
So you have to make the decision. Do you want to buy in Riverside and commute to work if you live in the OC or do you want to spend a little more and buy a house in Orange County? My wife and I lived in Murrieta for a while and commuted back and forth to Irvine everyday. So we have some experience with the commute. It was no fun at all.
I've sold many homes in Riverside, so if your thinking about it feel free to contact me. There are some great deals on new homes from different builders.
